Blender courses

Hällo, h00manz!

Since I began development of software apps, I no longer have created much 3D graphics or images. However, I still have a tacit interest in the field.

Recently, I came across a set of Skillshare courses to learn Blender by Gesa Pickbrenner. She offers at the moment several classes, for beginner and advanced Blender users. She mainly focuses on using Blender to create 3D printable designs like jewelry and sculpture, but she also offers general introductions into Blender functionality. The courses are very well made and I thought to share here with you guys these quality Blender training courses. If you are interested to learn how to use Blender or improve your skills with it, I am sure her courses wont disappoint you.

I have met Gesa, digitally, and she is a wonderful person and very sociable, skilled and knowledgeable. She also offers 1-on-1 Blender training sessions, where you can learn at your own pace, through custom tailored training, adapted specifically to your needs.

You can find Gesa on Instagram and YouTube as well.

May God fill your heart, dear reader.

New 3D images

Shalom, amigos!

Yesterday I finished a new 3D image with which I am trying to criticise the hypocrisy of some people regularly attending church. I made this image after a friend of mine insisted on me to try a new render engine (thank you!).

Inversions and contradictions

The following images were made in late autumn 2016. The first is mostly a 3D render and the other is painted.

Free 3D objects

Hello!

It's really been a long time since I posted anything here, in English.

I decided to release all the 3D objects I modeled as .OBJs, with no textures. Very few objects included are in the .C4D file format as well. You may notice when you open the .OBJs that most objects are merged into a single mesh. However, I made sure the merged meshes have easy to separate polygon groups. When I thought it is appropriate, I separated the objects in different meshes.

The quality of the objects I provide is without doubt questionable. It also varies because some of them were made in my youth, others with no care for the results. I made very little improvements to the poor meshes, because I want to provide them as they were used in my works.

Download 3D objects pack (ZIP file, 171 mb)

The .ZIP archive contains the following:

  • furniture objects: tables, chairs and armchairs;
  • a spider and butterflies;
  • vases and plants: waterlilies, mimozas and gerberas;
  • various computer components: monitor, tower, speaker, microphone, webcam and others;
  • 4 reposable robot models: Medieval, Marvin, Morfocae and Umanoid;
  • a piano;
  • a complete church in late baroque style;
  • power panel, trash bin, an incomplete wagon;
  • different types of shoes;
  • cowboy hat, pocket watch;
  • book, pen, crayon;
  • toys: dolls in different poses [C4D file includes a rig], a soldier [reposable] and a car;
  • tools: screwdriver, hammer, plier;

You can also find underneath some images, in the description section, a link to the 3D objects from the scene. This way you can download individually the objects you are interested in.

You can use any object freely for personal uses only, but I would appreciate offering me credit by mentioning my name and my web site address. Thank you.

Summer 2013 updates

Hello, dreamers!

The exhibition I had in Offenbach, Germany was a real succes and for me it was a wonderful and exciting event. I met really nice people there. Thanks again to Daniel Schaaf and to all his friends for making it possible.

I finished the art studies at UVT

Another great news is that I finished completely my studies for the Master degree program I was enrolled at the „West University of Timişoara (UVT).

My Master's degree graduation project is "Carita Europeana", a triptych. The following 3 images make-up the project. Click on them to read more details about this project that took me almost half an year to finish:

Carita Europeana - part 1

Carita Europeana - part 2

Carita Europeana - part 3

The following works are paintings I did for the Master's degree courses since I last updated this blog:

The impossible capture

The following image is a virtual art installation I did in Cinema 4D, for one of the courses at UVT:

The tool of Genesis

The image below is intended to represent subjectively and in an abstract way, how I see the society and some of its minorities. I made it look very flat. The tools I used are Photoshop and Cinema 4D:

Other projects

"Dreams in contention" is a painting I did in my spare time based on a multitude of painting exercises I made during the year of 2012.

Dreams in contention

The following book cover was finished in late August 2012 for my beloved friend Michael Auerbach. Unfortunately, it took a lot of time to finish it, because I was very busy with the studies at the university. The project began in November 2010. This image is just the front cover. Due to lack of time, I did not get to do the back cover for his book.

Elia - Der perfekte Spiegel

I also designed a site interface. This one is for the "Agora University of Oradea", from Romania. The site was done in collaboration with my twin brother.

I hope you like the works I did since last year, when I updated the site. I wish you all the best!

Early 2011 updates

Greetings people ! :)

Here's a quick update with my latest works.

I've done three book covers, each different and special in its own way. I hope you like them. I am now working on a new one for a friend, Michael Auerbach.

Mathematical probability and statistics

Advanced algebra for engineering and economics track

Steps in Mathematics (5th grade)

Since I got my Bamboo tablet I exercise painting on a daily basis and in December 2010, I decided to take the best ideas that stemmed from my silly painting exercises and to finalize them, so I can publish them. Here are my shy attempts in painting.

Summer hallucination

Incoherent bioforms

The departure

I also painted a Christmas greeting card which I missed posting here, because I was too busy painting the images I release in this post. I hope you guys like this one as well, even if it is late :).

Holidays greeting card 2010

And if all this wasn't enough, I also publishing a not so 3D image I made in 5 minutes, by mistake, in 2004, but I only finalized it yesterday. The initial image was a 3D render, but I worked on it so heavily in Photoshop that it is far from the initial one, just the basic forms and shapes are there. I also painted on it - to fix and "improve" details :).

Puzzled demons

Meanwhile, I worked more on various tiny projects, like designing site interfaces, coding in HTML and stuff for school. I am still aiming at finishing my new site in 2011.

Best regards to everyone and thanks for your time!

Updates before autumn

Salut!

It's autumn already, and I've been doing quite a few things during the summer. I learned CSS and HTML, yay! It was a piece of cake. I learned, because I already started work on my new site. I hope it will be finished by the end of the year. Coding of CSS/HTML and the design is finished already, but I am waiting for my twin brother to code the required functionality in JS and PHP, but he is really busy with an internship at Mozilla.

Other than that, I made two new images. Actually the first is quite old, since summer 2009, but only now I completed it. It's called Love routine. I hope you like it.

Love routine

The second image is a bit more weird. The creative process was more elaborate. I used Sketch and Toon for the initial image, then I post-processed it in Photoshop using various shadings rendered within Cinema 4D and even Vray. Then, I used the image as a texture map on a plane in a 3D virtual scene, in which I made the dark, muddy water as a photo-realistic rendition and I also placed a neon light behind the plane which had paper-like shading properties, so light could scatter through it. Afterwards, I got the photo-realistic rendition of the paper and water back in Photoshop for more post-processing. Here's an illustration of what I am talking about:

Failed sunset: making of

Now, the final image is here: Failed sunset. The meaning of the image is for you to figure out.

Failed sunset

I hope you enjoy these works. 'Till next time, all the best!

New project: church in landscape

Hallöchen!

It's been a long time since I posted anything new. But, here I am with a new set of images.

Since November 2009, I've been working on something new. The initial idea was to do a landscape image using a new technique developed by me to achieve a final image. The 3D scene is rendered in customized layers, without using the usual built-in functionality of rendering multi-pass images. As such, I do not have a layer for each shading aspect, like specularities, reflections, shadows, GI, etc. My layers are obtained by having multiple instances of the 3D scene with different light setups or different textures, thus, in the end, I only separate the lights by type and the color/texture maps. And, of course, for easing the post-processing, I use depth maps and masks for specific objects or class of objects. All the layers are then composited in Photoshop. The actual rendering, if I may say so, is done in composition, where I can control each aspect, much more accurately than in 3D, and it also contributes to getting closer to painting. Due to the endless possibilities, I made three versions of the image.

I used Cinema 4D, Vray to render the images and Photoshop to composite the different layers I rendered. I used Vray Proxies for the first time. I was amazed by the amount of polygons I am able to render. The scene has approximately 30-40 millions of polygons.

The church is a 3D reproduction done by me after a real church which was built in 1821 by the Austrian-Hungarian empire. The architectural style is late baroque, with simple ornaments. The real church is located across the street, where I live.

Colourful in silence

Wide illusion

Frozen serenity

I hope you guys will enjoy the images as much as I enjoyed doing them ;).

New 3D image: Ambiental living room

This project was an exercise to do a 3D interior as fast as possible. My last projects took about 1 to 2 years to finish, so I really wanted to prove myself I can do one fast. This one took me only 3 weeks to finish at a slow pace. So, it's a real improvement. Done with C4D and Vray. It's a reproduction of a photo I found on the Internet.

The quality is not top notch. The major culprit is the plant and there are, of course, other minor details, such as the books on the shelf, the curtains and others. Despite these minor flaws, I really like the overall mood which is a positive one, very intense light; it has a certain sense of freshness. Here's the image:

I hope you guys like my new image ;).

New project: the piano room

Hello readers!

Today, I'm proud to announce a new personal project I completed. During the last year I worked on a photo-realistic 3D scene for further advancing my skills in architectural visualization. With this project I learned a lot about Vray and about lighting ;). The project consisted of reproducing an entire room in 3D. I'm happy now to see it done.

Please click on the images below to see more and to read more about the project:

Piano room: armchairs

Piano room: windows

I hope to post more stuff during this autumn, perhaps a "making of" or tutorials along the project.
