Summer 2013 updates

Hello, dreamers!

The exhibition I had in Offenbach, Germany was a real succes and for me it was a wonderful and exciting event. I met really nice people there. Thanks again to Daniel Schaaf and to all his friends for making it possible.

I finished the art studies at UVT

Another great news is that I finished completely my studies for the Master degree program I was enrolled at the „West University of Timişoara (UVT).

My Master's degree graduation project is "Carita Europeana", a triptych. The following 3 images make-up the project. Click on them to read more details about this project that took me almost half an year to finish:

Carita Europeana - part 1

Carita Europeana - part 2

Carita Europeana - part 3

The following works are paintings I did for the Master's degree courses since I last updated this blog:

Temple of love

The herd instinct

The impossible capture

The following image is a virtual art installation I did in Cinema 4D, for one of the courses at UVT:

The tool of Genesis

The image below is intended to represent subjectively and in an abstract way, how I see the society and some of its minorities. I made it look very flat. The tools I used are Photoshop and Cinema 4D:

Other projects

"Dreams in contention" is a painting I did in my spare time based on a multitude of painting exercises I made during the year of 2012.

Dreams in contention

The following book cover was finished in late August 2012 for my beloved friend Michael Auerbach. Unfortunately, it took a lot of time to finish it, because I was very busy with the studies at the university. The project began in November 2010. This image is just the front cover. Due to lack of time, I did not get to do the back cover for his book.

Elia - Der perfekte Spiegel

I also designed a site interface. This one is for the "Agora University of Oradea", from Romania. The site was done in collaboration with my twin brother.

I hope you like the works I did since last year, when I updated the site. I wish you all the best!

Autumn 2011 updates

Hello, precious ! :)

I did not update for a long time already my web site. I did many works recently and I finally found the time to post them here as well.

I made three site interfaces: ICCC 2010, Point Clouds Library (PCL) and IRSCA - Gifted Education.

The PCL web site is done by me using as back-end a free CMS named MODx. The initial version was finished in April 2011. The interface was updated several times, the final version, the one you can see, is from October 2011.

I also made a book cover for Ioana Dzițac and a logo for Uhuru Software.

I made three illustrations on topics related to the future and robotics.

Since August 2010, I started collaborating with Daniel Schaaf, a German that makes various travel sites specialized for different audiences. I do site templates, which include the HTML and CSS implementation. I finally had the time, this week, to prepare and to publish on this web site all the interfaces I did for him. I already made a dozen, so in this post I will show just a few thumbnails, the rest of them are available in a dedicated page.

I hope you like my new works. :)

P.S. I updated my CV as well.

Early 2011 updates

Greetings people ! :)

Here's a quick update with my latest works.

I've done three book covers, each different and special in its own way. I hope you like them. I am now working on a new one for a friend, Michael Auerbach.

Mathematical probability and statistics

Advanced algebra for engineering and economics track

Steps in Mathematics (5th grade)

Since I got my Bamboo tablet I exercise painting on a daily basis and in December 2010, I decided to take the best ideas that stemmed from my silly painting exercises and to finalize them, so I can publish them. Here are my shy attempts in painting.

Summer hallucination

Incoherent bioforms

The departure

I also painted a Christmas greeting card which I missed posting here, because I was too busy painting the images I release in this post. I hope you guys like this one as well, even if it is late :).

Holidays greeting card 2010

And if all this wasn't enough, I also publishing a not so 3D image I made in 5 minutes, by mistake, in 2004, but I only finalized it yesterday. The initial image was a 3D render, but I worked on it so heavily in Photoshop that it is far from the initial one, just the basic forms and shapes are there. I also painted on it - to fix and "improve" details :).

Puzzled demons

Meanwhile, I worked more on various tiny projects, like designing site interfaces, coding in HTML and stuff for school. I am still aiming at finishing my new site in 2011.

Best regards to everyone and thanks for your time!

Summer time: new book covers

Hello, fellas and playas! ;)

It's mid-summer and it's also a very long time since I posted anything here. I am rather busy to post anything. I've been working on several book covers since my last blog post and, of course, on my big project: the piano room (for the latest WIPs check this forum post on the VrayforC4D forums). I've been unable to complete the final renders, due to crashes and very long render times, in early march, this year. A few days ago I resumed work on the project. I hope to get it done this year.

For more details about each book cover, please click on them. Here they are:

Faronir - Raue zuflucht by Michael Auerbach

Semantic 3D object maps for everyday manipulation in human living environments by Radu B. Rusu

Synthesis and Catalytic Applications of Carbene-Functionalized Hybrid Catalysts by Alexandrina D. Rusu

The reliability and the availablity of the distribution systems of electrical energy by Simona Dzițac

For the Faronir novel written by Michael Auerbach, I tried a different approach, which I hope was successful. Until now, I always had to do book covers on scientific subjects, like artificial intelligence, robotics and mathematics. I never had to deal with literature. Being the first book of this kind, a science fiction novel, I wanted this cover to stand out in my gallery. I hope you find it great. A great amount of effort and time was put into getting the book cover right.

Besides book covers, I also did the logo and the new interface for the PaintWeb project of my twin brother. Some of the frequent visitors of our site already saw the new logo, but for those who did not, here it is:

PaintWeb logo

I've also done other small projects, but I won't post them since they are insignificant.

'Til next time, I wish y'all the best and have a nice summer. I hope to be posting more stuff during the year.

Two new book covers on A.I.

Buenos dias!

Last week I've done two new book covers. The first one was for a book on artificial intelligence by Ioan Dziţac. I chose abstract imagery and I used a colour palette which suggests a high-tech world. Special thanks to Lucian Marin for the suggestions on typography.

Artificial Intelligence book cover

The second book is about new paradigms in artificial intelligence authored by several people. For this one, I illustrated fuzzy logic in two ways. For the front I did something rather complex, strictly related to mathematics, but for the back I did something more "humane".

From Natural Language to Soft Computing: New Paradigms in Artificial Intelligence

'Till next time, best wishes to you :). Oh, and... it's almost Christmas. I wish you Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. I doubt I'll post anything new until next year.

Site updates

I finally had the time to update the site. I added some new content and updated several pages.

My latest work is "Love bites". The first WIP saw the light in early November 2007, but I wasn't in the mood to finish it until yesterday - 3rd of February 2008. Take it as an image for Saint Valentine's Day, but I didn't intend it to be so.

Love bites

Ovidiu Bosancu logo In early November 2007, I was asked to make a new logo and a new site interface for Ovidiu Bosancu. In two weeks my work was finished. This is with what I came up with:

The organizers of the "Music and Poetry Festival" from Arad, Romania, asked me to design the calendar for 2008 and the cover for the next book of this festival. I am really content how these two works turned out. Again, all this happened in late September and in November 2007.

In January 2008, I was contacted by the web designer behind Foundation Recordings, asking me for the permission to use the image Old Radio. I ended to not only allow him to use it, but to also do two 3D objects for the new site design. A mixing box and a disco ball. Hope you like them.

And, in other news... I am proud to announce that in October 2007, "The wind of change" image appeared in the "Best of Cinema 4D" gallery of the 3D Attack magazine. That's not all: the same image became the front cover in November 2007 issue, which also featured a four pages interview with me :). It was my first interview of any kind.

In conclusion... November was the most active month since August 2007. :)

The new site: ROBO Design v5

This is the new ROBO Design web site. Thank you for visiting my blog.

With this new site we made sure that we can keep in-touch with the public more easier. Expect from now on more often updates. Feel free to navigate the simple interface :).

... and many new pages.

About the site

ROBO Design v5 - front page I've been told that the interface design is not good. The ROBO Design logo is too retro, the colour theme is too brown and... last, but not least the navigation system is not good. Well the reasoning behind this interface was to make a simple, clean one. Nothing too fancy. The colour theme is inspired by the Ubuntu Linux distro, besides this we didn't want to stick to the blue colour. As for the navigation system, it's clear that by having so many menus, we would have cluttered the whole site. We wanted both to have our own pages, our own sort of site. Thus, the decision was to hide the menus under these two named parts/sides.

A lot of new content

I haven't updated the site, because I am generally very busy. Yet, today I had the time to do so.

What's new:

  • IFMA 3D elevators 2nd package. My collaboration has continued, therefore this is the new package of 3D elevators for their catalogs.
  • two new web sites:
    • PRO-net.ro. For an Internet Service Provider in Arad, Romania.
    • Poetry Festival. A web site for a high-school music and poetry festival organized annually in Arad, Romania.
  • a book cover for the Poetry Festival.
  • a new page in this web site: Web programming (no longer available) in Exhibition. This page was created in an effort to provide users visiting this site with the latest toys Mihai is working on, the web programmer of this web site.

This is almost everything new I have worked on. I am always working on new stuff.

A new 3D image and a book cover

Today I released on the site a new 3D image, called "Bed room". This is a photo-realistic render of a bed room, in a beautiful morning. The 3D scene does not contain any lights. The illumination is generated using radiosity. For the bed we used sub-polygonal displacement. Rendering took 51 hours in Cinema 4D and AR.

Also, I made a book cover for "Multi-Precision Mathematics". Authors: Mads Rasmussen, Greg Rose and Tom St. Denis.
