I've done more posters these days. None yet for the Christmas ;). I plan on doing one, some day, but I don't know when.

Salut, Chouvénie!

After pondering for awhile, I finally came up with a title for this blog post. It's always difficult for me to name my new blog posts, due to either repeating older blog posts titles or just no idea.

Now, it's almost Christmas and everyone (or not) enjoys the spirit of these holidays. Thus, believe it or not, I thought of doing some posters on the subject of Valentine's Day. A bit early, but no problem, aye :). The idea of doing a poster came into my mind suddenly, while chatting about design matters with a friend. My first poster was "Valentine's day warning", because I already had the heart rendered, so, I just had to do the design in Photoshop. The idea is quite simple and frank, no shiny gloss or anything. You may use it to express your (non)feelings to your partner.

The second poster, still about Valentine's Day, it's harder to grok (understand), due to its colors and the "cryptic" messages contained in it. The poster illustrates narrow minded kids using the Internet. Further details in the image.

For each of these two posters, I made a different version:

I also intend to do more posters, as I find it fun, easy 'n quick way to express ideas. Posters allow me to focus on a single subject and to use texts, which can be sharp :). The sketchy illustrations were another fun way to express myself and perhaps, I'll do more.

With this occasion, I added a new section on the site: Posters.

Soon, I'll publish a new interface and a new illustration I'm working on.

Last week I've done two new book covers. The first one was for a book on artificial intelligence by Ioan Dziţac. I chose abstract imagery and I used a colour palette which suggests a high-tech world. Special thanks to Lucian Marin for the suggestions on typography.

The second book is about new paradigms in artificial intelligence authored by several people. For this one, I illustrated fuzzy logic in two ways. For the front I did something rather complex, strictly related to mathematics, but for the back I did something more "humane".

I forgot to post last time my new works and I just mentioned the small tidbits behind the hood of maintaining a site. Yesterday, I realized I have quite many new works unpublished.

Three new logos: Fast Travel agency - late September. Webicina - early July, and the biology 2008 Olympiad logo, in February.

I also decided to list the interfaces I did for our projects, Paint.Web and the SVG + Voice game tutorial (done in April 2007), in the interfaces category. This is just so you can have a better view of my works.

Next, in November I've done a few motion planning illustrations for my older brother, and a fake diploma for fun.

I hope you guys like my new stuff.

I'm working on two new covers and, still on my 3D image - The Piano Room, but currently I am on hold 'till I finish the two covers.

Hello fella iReaders.

Throughout this autumn I made many tiny edits to my site. Chronologically I'll list them here for you to know.

First thing I did was to update my C.V. page in regards to my education curriculum, as i finished in the summer high school and, as of now, I am student at a local university, named U.A.V.

Around the same time, I updated my About page with up-to-date information.

Later, after several weeks I also decided to add thumbnails through the pages of the Making of for "The wind of change" project. I had this idea for quite some time, but I was too busy and at times ... too lazy to do it. Now, you might find more pleasing to read the pages (the technical details and the artistic interpretation).

Another thing I did was to change the PDF file for my e-book Zgândurele. In March 2008, I released a beefy 25 mb PDF containing the original resolution of all the images, thus many of you, who tried to load it, experienced issues while doing so. Now, it's just 2 megabytes :). And, today, I also uploaded it on Scribd.com.

And perhaps the most important update was when I published two work in progress images for my current 3D project, in the WIPs page. As you can see, I started a new big project: The piano room. As of now, I completed modeling the 3D objects required. Now, it's just a matter of texturing and rendering to completely finish the image. I estimate I'll do it this winter.

For those who enjoy my artistic writings, in Romanian, I have a "new" one. I've written this poem on 28th of October 2007 at 13:48, and it's my first one:

Moleculele acum cântă în cor,
Îngână un cânt cu trist dor,
Pentru tine, întâia oară
Ca tu să mă auzi de astă oară.

"Nu" este cuvântul ce azi nu-l aud.
Acesta e cel ce-n urmă lasă omul ud,
Iar azi, eu nu îi dau înţeles,
Căci nu doresc să am de ales.

Şi de înţelegi azi aceste vorbe,
Atunci lasă-n urmă tăcerile oarbe,
Ca azi tu înţeleasă să te faci
Şi ca o mică floare să te desfaci.

It's almost mid summer now and I haven't updated my site since spring. Since then, I've made a catalog and a web site interface for the upcoming new site of CTCNVK.

I continued working on illustrating more artistic texts I had. I decided to publish this new set, so here they are:

Another idea which came into my mind was to create an e-book [a PDF file] with all my writings and the illustrations along side. So, now, those who understand Romanian, can download this PDF instead of surfing the blog to read my texts. I think this is "more manageable"/usable :). I've even designed a front and back cover. The title for this e-book is "Zgândurele".

Hello! It's spring time! Creativity in the wild :).

Several days before the Valentine's Day, somebody asked me to do a 3D heart having a red stripe wrapped around it. Given that Valentine's Day was so close, I decided to make my own version of the image. So, my idea was to create a "culinary" one resembling a multitude of fresh tomatoes and also make it look fake, obnoxiously red.

Weeks ago, I had an idea of doing sketch like illustrations for my artistic writings. I've done already six sketches for my texts. I am doing all these in 3D with Cinema 4D and Photoshop for corrections or heavy editing. I created a new category in the "My projects" section of my site for them. And, I also moved the image "Integration of Poverty (Romania in E.U.)" to this new category as it fits, being done in the same style. Having worked with the 3D heart for Valentine's, I had a new idea for a funny (or sad) illustration: Love is a burden, which shows an individual carrying a heart up the hill, all alone :).

I finally had the time to update the site. I added some new content and updated several pages.

My latest work is "Love bites". The first WIP saw the light in early November 2007, but I wasn't in the mood to finish it until yesterday - 3rd of February 2008. Take it as an image for Saint Valentine's Day, but I didn't intend it to be so.

In early November 2007, I was asked to make a new logo and a new site interface for Ovidiu Bosancu. In two weeks my work was finished. This is with what I came up with:

The organizers of the "Music and Poetry Festival" from Arad, Romania, asked me to design the calendar for 2008 and the cover for the next book of this festival. I am really content how these two works turned out. Again, all this happened in late September and in November 2007.

In January 2008, I was contacted by the web designer behind Foundation Recordings, asking me for the permission to use the image Old Radio. I ended to not only allow him to use it, but to also do two 3D objects for the new site design. A mixing box and a disco ball. Hope you like them.

And, in other news... I am proud to announce that in October 2007, "The wind of change" image appeared in the "Best of Cinema 4D" gallery of the 3D Attack magazine. That's not all: the same image became the front cover in November 2007 issue, which also featured a four pages interview with me :). It was my first interview of any kind.
